Today I am 11 days late in giving birth.
Yesterday I had contractions all day long and they got to the stage where they were about 10 minutes apart. They were not too painful but I couldnt talk whilst I was having one. I rang the delivery suite at the hospital to ask for their advice they said that I should try and get some sleep as the contractions would need to be a lot closer together and a lot stronger. Daddy Wayne and I went off to bed expecting to be up and going to the hospital in a few hours. But once again we awoke this morning and nothing had happened.
Is this baby ever going to come out????????????????

Jokes to cheer me up! - Tuesday 15th May 2007
Pregnancy, Oestrogen and Women Pregnancy Q & A & more!
Q: Should I have a baby after 35? A: No, 35 children is enough.
Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move? A: With any luck, right after he finishes university.
Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex? A: Childbirth.
Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline irrational. A: So what's your question?
Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labour, but pressure. Is she right? A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.
Q: When is the best time to get an epidural? A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.
Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labour? A: Not unless the word "divorce" means anything to you.
Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth? A: Yes, pregnancy.
Q: Do I have to have a baby shower? A: Not if you change the baby's nappy very quickly.
Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again? A: When the kids are in university.

6 Days Late! - Friday 11th May 2007
Today Lennon is 6 days overdue, is this baby ever going to come out?
Everyone wants to meet him and is waiting for his arrival but I don't think he wants to come out to meet everyone yet, he is quite happy in the warm comfortable womb!

Was He On His Way - Friday 11th May 2007
Last night I had really light contractions for a good few hours, they were not painful but felt quite strange. I went to bed to try and get some sleep, hoping that we would be up most of the night in labour. But at 1am in the morning they had disappeared. I am not sure when that means he will come now, I really hope that I don't have to wait until my planned induction on the 17th May.

Sweep - Thursday 10th May 2007
I have been to my check up with the Midwife this afternoon. She has done the sweep so now its just a waiting game. She said that his head is very very low now and that he has turned his body around. If nothing comes from the sweep then I am booked in for an induction on May 17th, this could be subject to change depending on how many people are in the labour ward.
I have felt a few twinges in the last couple of hours but I don't know wether the are just in my head because I am looking for them.
Fingers Crossed!

1 Day To Go! - Friday 4th May 2007
Today it is one day to go before Lennon should arrive, I am not convinced that he will turn up tomorrow. I think he will arrive sometime next week. I have sent Wayne fishing tonight as there is no point sitting around waiting for something to happen. As long as he can get home within the hour then I should be ok, if not I will be knocking on the neighbours doors!

Gifts For Lennon - Thursday 3rd May 2007
Tonight Lennon's Aunties and Uncles came round to bring him some lovely gifts for when he arrives. He received some beautiful outifts to wear and a really nice photo session. This photo session allows us to have 4 pictures in his first 12 months. I think it will be nice to get one done about every 4 months. Also I would like one of just the three of us, our little family.
Everyone really wants to meet Lennon now and cant wait for his arrival.
Big thank you to Aunty Emma, Uncle Luke, Aunty Becki and Uncle Scott for all the lovely gifts for Lennon.

Midwife Check Up - Thursday 3rd May 2007
I have been for what I hope is my last midwife check up. She advised that he is still growing well. His head is still not engaged but she advised that sometimes this does not happen till contractions start. She advised that if he is not here by Thursday next week that I can go to her and she will do what they call a sweep.
After the midwife appointment my friend Sarah and her baby Josh went swimming, try and move Lennon!

Another Day and No Sign! - Thursday 3rd May 2007
Another day has passed and there is still no sign of Lennon ever wanting to leave my tummy! It has got to the stage now where people ring or text each day to ask for an update and if anything has happened. I mean as if they wouldn't hear if anything happened. I would scream it from the roof tops if he was coming, not only in pain but in excitement as well.
Wayne and I are still a little undecided on Lennons middle name, I hope we can decide on something soon.

Waiting! - Wednesday 2nd May 2007
Everyday now I am waiting for something to happen. I have tried loads of the natural ways to try and get things started but they have been no help.
Curry - this just gave me really bad heartburn in the middle of the night, so had to get up and have some Gaviscon. Not going to try that again.
Pineapple - I ate loads of pineapple and this made no difference what so ever.
Blowing up Balloons - I tried and tried and couldn't even get the balloon to blow up!
Watching a weepy movie - this did nothing but make me cry and cry.
Bumpy Car Ride - this just made me need the need a wee more than usual.
Swimming - I swam over 20 lengths and this didn't get anything going at all.
I give up, I think Lennon will arrive when he wants too. I have my last Midwife appointment tomorrow, fingers crossed she will say that his head has engaged.

Never Again - Saturday 28th April 2007
I dont know why I did it but I just watched a Home Birth Diary on Discovery Home and Health and the lady just gave birth to a baby girl that was 11lb 12oz! and she did it all naturally. Now I am really scared. I was not scared about the labour before but after watching this programme I am very scared. I know that at the end of it I will have this wonderful baby and all the pain will be forgotten in a matter of minutes, that is what is keeping me going.

Swimming - Thursday 26th April 2007
Last night I went swimming with my friend Gemma, I tried to do as many lengths of the pool as I could manage. I think I did about 25 lengths, but it was only a small pool!
It was really nice to be in the water as I felt really weightless and it eased my aching limbs. As soon as I got out they started to ached again which is really strange. It must of warn me out as I slept really well last night. If Lennon does not arrive next week then I shall go again. I cant wait to take him swimming as I think that he will love it.
8 Days to go!

Trying to get things going - Wednesday 25th April 2007
I have started to try some of the old wives tales about getting things started with the labour. Yesterday I ate lots of fresh pineapple, which I am told gets things going. Unfortunatley nothing happened yesterday with that. I have found some other natural ways of getting things started that I am going to try;
- Castor Oil
- Sex
- Eating Curry
- Red Raspberry Leaf Tea
- Nipple Stimulation
- Homeopathy
- Accupuncture
- Walking
- Blowing up balloons
- Bouncing on a Birthing Ball
- Get a weepy video and have a good cry
- Wear your best knickers (sods law that your waters will break when wearing them)
- Sit on the Washing Machine during the washing cycle
- Foot Massage
- Bumpy Car Ride
If anyone has any other good ideas then please let me know!

Gifts From Work - Friday 20th April 2007
Today my friend Susan came round to see me and the bump. She brought with her gifts from people at work. Work got me a really nice gift voucher that I can spend on myself when I am skinny again!! I also got a really nice present for Lennon from my big boss Tracey, which is a crocodile outfit and hat with a little crocodile teddy, I love it as it is so cute! I cant wait to see Lennon in it.
Thanks to everyone again for the lovely gifts.

Grandad Chris and I collect the PRAM - Thursday 19th April 2007
Grandad Chris took me over to little Grannies today to pick up Lennon's pram. He has taken it home as it is supersticious to have it in the house before the baby arrives.
I am sure that he will have great fun putting it together!!!!
Big thanks from Lennon and Mummy to Grandad Chris. Lennon says he cant wait for Grandad to push him in his nice red pram (which resembles a Ferrari!)

Midwife Appointment - Thursday 19th April 2007
Today I went to see the Midwife for my check up. She said that all is back to normal with my blood pressure, which is a worry off my mind. It means I can get back to normal (well as much as I can being 38 weeks pregnant!)
She also said that the baby has grown lots since I last saw her and that it seems to be since I have given up work and relaxed and rested.
I asked her about my extreme heartburn and she said that I need to either have some iced cold milk or ice cream. I do hope this works as I am getting heartburn most nights now before bed.
My tummy now measures 39cms! I am not seeing the Midwife for 2 more weeks now and that could be my last time seeing her before the baby arrives! fingers crossed....

Developments For 38 Weeks Pregnant - Thursday 19th April 2007
Can you tell if you're carrying a boy or a girl? One hint may come from the size of your baby -- boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls. Babies at week 39 weigh about 6.8 to 7 pounds / 3 to 3.2 kilograms and continue to build the fat stores that will help regulate body temperature after birth. Your little one's organ systems are fully developed and in place, but the lungs will be last to reach maturity. (Even after your baby is born, it may take a few hours before she establishes a normal breathing pattern.)
Wondering what colour your baby's eyes will be? Most Caucasian babies are born with dark blue eyes and their true eye colour -- be it brown, green or blue -- may not reveal itself for weeks or months. The colour of your baby's eyes in the first minutes after birth won't last -- exposure to light changes a baby's initial eye colour. Most African and Asian babies usually have dark grey or brown eyes at birth -- their dark eyes becoming a true brown or black after the first six months or year. Multiracial children often turn out to have the most beautiful coloured eyes.

Fat Fingers! - Tuesday 17th April 2007
Today I have had to take off my Engagement Ring, Eternity Ring and Wedding Ring. This is because my hands have swollen up quite a bit, just like my ankles. It has really made me sad having to take them off as I have never taken them off before and I now feel like an unmarried mother to be!
I guess its better to take them off then to have them cut off, then I would be really sad!

I can't get no SLEEP - Tuesday 17th April 2007
Every night now I go to sleep for a few hours, then I find myself wide awake. I have taken to getting up and reading on the sofa. Wayne comes in the morning and finds me asleep on the sofa! He is quite enjoying having the bed to himself but I am really not enjoying the lack of sleep. I don't feel tired its just so annoying lying there not being able to go back to sleep. Every position I get into is uncomfortable and then when I am comfy I need to get up to go to the toilet (which at the moment is very frequently!) if its not the toilet then it is heartburn. I am living on Gaviscon at the moment!
Please let it only be 3 weeks to go!

Madness in the flat - Saturday 14th April 2007
Our flat is madness at the moment getting ready for Lennon's arrival. Today Uncle Scott has been busy hanging the lining paper in the bedroom ready for Daddy Wayne to decorate before Lennon comes. Also Grandad Mick has been here sorting out the hall cupboard for us,, this for all Daddy Waynes fishing equiptment to go in. Then we have had the gardener round to patio the garden, so that it is nice for us all to sit out in the summer and have bbq's....
Hopefully everything will be finished in the next 3 weeks before he turns up, lets hope he doesn't turn up early!!
Big thank you to everyone that is helping us get the flat ready in time.

Developments For 37 Weeks Pregnant - Saturday 14th April 2007
Only two weeks or so to go! This week, your baby is busy shedding his downy coating of fine hair (called lanugo) and his coat of vernix caseosa — the cheesy substance that protects his developing skin. Your baby swallows both of these secretions, which stay in the bowels until birth. Then your baby will excrete a blackish waste called meconium that becomes his first bowel movement. Meanwhile, you may be feeling huge — and increasingly impatient. But try to get as much rest as possible — even if sleep is difficult, you'll appreciate it after the birth

High Blood Pressure - Tuesday 10th April 2007
Today I went to the doctors to ask about my sore legs. They have been really sore for sometime now and it does not seem to be getting any better. The doctor did all the usual checks, when he checked my blood pressure and he advised that it was high and that he didn't want me going back to work. So now I have finished work early.
Daddy Wayne is not very well either, he has toncillitus. But we are both looking after each other!

I want to meet Lennon now! Monday 9th April 2007
I really want to meet Lennon now!
I am finding it really hard to get comfy at any time of the day, if it is sitting, lying down or anything. I am still get really bad leg cramps in the night and they are so tender from that all the time. I find it easier to be walking about, which makes me very tired. I am turning into a moaning minnie!
On a more positive note Daddy Wayne and Uncle Scott are redecorating the flat for when Lennon arrives and it is looking really good already.
Only 4 more weeks to go! please Lennon don't be late in arriving.

Holiday in France - Wednesday 4th April 2007
Wayne and I were meant to be going on holiday to Limogues on Saturday 5th May 2007, but as Lennon is going to be born on that day we have had to rearrange this as I didnt think that I could fit it all in!
We are now planning to go on Saturday 22nd September 2007. Lennon will have to have his own little passport, which can you believe is £45.00. I mean he is only little! not only does it cost loads but you have to make sure in the picture that he has his eyes open, I am looking forward to getting the passport photos done! Also when we fly he has to sit on my lap and the flight company charge £15.00 for that, I mean to sit on his Mum's lap they charge us.
I am really looking forward to our first holiday as a family. We are going to a fishing lake in Limogues and we have hired a cottage that sits by the lake. So we can just relax by the side of the lake and take nice long walks together.

My Days Are Numbered At Work - Wednesday 4th April 2007
After today I only have 5 full days left at work!
It is very scary to think that I wont be going into work everyday, seeing the same people that I have seen for the last four years.
It is very hard to get to and from work now as I get more and more tired by the day. Wayne has been very good and is taking me to and from the bus stop, which helps lots.
Once I have finished work then I can work on nesting in the flat. Currently we are doing lots to the flat to plan for Lennon's arrival and also so that we can sell it in the new year and get a nice house.

Developments for 35 Weeks - Tuesday 3rd April 2007
Your baby now weighs about 5.25 pounds/ 2.4 kilograms and measures approximately 18 inches/ 45 centimetres from head to toe. His elbow, foot or head may protrude from your stomach when he stretches and squirms about. Soon, as the wall of your uterus and your abdomen stretch thinner and let in more light, your baby will begin to develop daily activity cycles.
This week, your little one is now sporting fingernails and has a fully developed pair of kidneys. His liver can also process some waste products.
There's much less amniotic fluid and much more baby in your uterus, which has expanded to a thousand times its original size. You've probably put on between 25 and 30 pounds/ 11 and 13.6 kilograms and your weight gain has hit its peak. Even your belly button has got bigger and has popped outward. You may be feeling breathless now that the top of your uterus is up under your ribs. Try getting down on all fours to take deeper breaths. Although the pressure on your bladder will make the bathroom your second home, don't drink any less water -- your baby needs the fluids. But you may like to cut down on diuretic drinks like tea and coffee, which will make you have to urinate even more often.

Babies Intuition - Sunday 1st April 2007
They say that babies can sense when somebody is pregnant well this week I experienced this.
Firsty my friend Sarah Gumbleton came around with her 10month old baby Henry. Everytime Henry came near me he would rub my bump. He did this quite a few times and he did it again when he went to leave.
Secondly my friend Sarah Southgate came around with her 12week old baby Josh. He really enjoyed being in my arms and didnt want to go back to his Mums! she thinks its because he could smell my milk and because I have bigger boobs then her!
I have also experienced this with animals, Alfie (our cat) loves to sit on my lap at the moment. This is not something that he has done before. Also Grandad Micks cats don't like pregnant people, they kept nipping me!

I have filled in my application form for a free real nappy starter kit. This comes from West Sussex County Council and is worth £100. This is an incentive to get Mums to use real nappies even if it is just when you have the baby at home. I am going to try and use these nappies when Lennon and I are at home to save money.
The Home Washing Nappy Starter Pack contains:
• 5 shaped cotton nappies (small)
• 5 shaped cotton nappies (one size)
• 2 nappy covers/wraps (one small and one medium)
• 2 snap in liners
• 3 rolls of biodegradable nappy liners
• Wet nappy bag
• Information Guide on fitting and washing the nappies

Midwife Appointment - Thursday 29th March 2007
Had my check up with the Midwife today. Bump has grown to 34cm now so getting bigger all the time. Head is still facing down, which is good!
She listened to the heartbeat again and says he has a very strong heartbeat and its very clear on the monitor.
I had all my blood tests back and they are all ok, Midwife advised that I am immune to Rubella.
My next check up with the Midwife will be at 38 weeks this is when I have finished work.

Braxton Hicks Contractions - Tuesday 27th March 2007
On Tuesday night I had my first Braxton Hick Contractions. There were just a couple that went on for a few minutes but I could really feel them.
What are Braxton Hicks contractions?
Sometime towards the middle of your pregnancy (or even earlier), you may notice the muscles of your uterus tightening for anywhere from 30 to 60 seconds. Not all women feel these random, usually painless contractions, which get their name from John Braxton Hicks, an English doctor who first described them in 1872. Doctors and midwives believe that Braxton Hicks contractions are part of your body getting ready for labour, and that they get the processes of effacement and dilation going in preparation for delivery. (This is called 'ripening'.)

Vivid Birth Dreams - Tuesday 27th March 2007
I have been having lots of different dreams about the birth and about Lennon. I keep dreaming that he is really big that he looks like about a four month old baby!
Apparently pregnant women get a lot of these dreams towards the end of pregnancy. Also Lennon spends 60% of his time sleeping now and apparently can dream as well. I don't know what about though!

Antenatal Day at Worthing Hospital - Saturday 24th March 2007
Granny Erica and I went to the Antenatal Day at Worthing Hospital on Saturday.
I learnt about the following things;
Labour
Pain Relief
Breast Feeding
Early Days after Birth
I also saw the Delivery Suite and the Birthing Pool, I really liked the look of the birthing pool it was very big and was in a really relaxing room. I also saw the Theatre in case of emergency c sections.
I am looking in to maybe hiring a Tens machine for pain relief during labour and I would really like to have the baby in the birthing pool.

Hiccups - Wednesday 21st March 2007
Each day now Baby Lennon is getting the Hiccups, it feels like a pulse that goes on for about 5 minutes.
Sometimes he gets it after I have my favourite Coca Cola so I am trying to resist having it at the moment.

Terrible Back Pain - Sunday 18th March 2007
Today I have had really bad back ache, I think its because I did too much yesterday I need to learn when I need to rest. Its very hard to deal with getting slower and not being able to do as much as I am used to doing. Because the pain was so bad I couldn't sleep at all last night. Lennon really enjoyed himself though he just kicked away at my tummy all night long. I have tried to rest all day today to get myself back to normal. I hope this helps as work tomorrow!

Development For 33 Weeks - Friday 16th March 2007
Pregnancy week 33
Overview: Foetal development during week 33 of being pregnant - You will sometimes be able to feel a small fist or foot jammed into the side of your abdomen.
You: You will sometimes be able to feel a small fist or foot jammed into the side of your abdomen. Make sure your mattress is firm and supportive. Do not listen to birth horror stories, no two births are alike.
Your baby: Your baby's fingernails reach the fingertips, his skin is pink and smooth and his body looks much more rounded. There is a store of glycogen building in your baby's liver. He will draw on this reserve energy during labour and the following days whilst feeding is established. Your baby's brain is expanding rapidly, with the hearing and speech centres are maturing to a point where he will be able to recognise your voice at birth. A baby boy will now weigh more than a girl.

The Big Race - Lennon - Tuesday 13th March 2007
There was a horse called Lennon racing in the Cheltenham Festival on Tuesday, so we decided that we should put a bet on him. We put the bet on and waited with anticipation, 2.35pm came and he fell on one of the fences! Oh well you win some you lose some!

Bank Account - Thursday 8th March 2007
I have opened a bank account this week to save money in for Lennon. This will be for trips out as a family and for anything that he needs. The money that I am going to save is from doing my Avon work. I have received delivery of everything today so I just have to collect the money now and then I can pay it into the account. Its really exciting to think of the trips and days out we can go on together, Mummy, Daddy and Baby Lennon.....
I have also sent off for some more information about opening a Child Trust Fund Account, the government give each child a £250 voucher that can be paid into the account. I think they then get the funds when they are 18. I am going to try and put a bit away each week into this account for Lennon even if its just a £1 a week thats £936 by the time he is 18 plus the £250 from the voucher thats £1186 not money to be sniffed at!
Well it will get him a car or something like that......

Midwife Check Up - Thursday 8th March 2007
Had my check up with the Midwife today, she measured the bump again and it measured 29cms this time (just keeps on growing!).
She listened to his heartbeat and said that it sounded very strong. His head is still facing downwards, which makes sense as he keeps kicking me in the ribs all the time!
She said that she didn't need to see me again for four weeks now, which is a bit scary as I will be 36 weeks then and just about to finish work!
I asked her about my swollen ankles and she advised to put my feet up at every opportunity, poor Wayne I shall have him running around like a mad man......
Next check up is Thursday 5th April 2007 at 12.

Forever Changing Bump - Wednesday 7th March 2007
My bump is forever changing size at the moment as Lennon keeps turning around all the time. One minute my trousers fit me fine the next day they are falling off because he has changed position!
My bump will be measured by the Midwife tomorrow at my check up appointment, it will be good to see how much it has grown in two weeks.

Developments for 31 Weeks - Monday 5th March 2007
Your baby
Your baby weighs about 1.6kg (3.5lb). His crown to rump length is 28cm (11.2in) and his total length is 40cm (18in).
What’s happening
From now until heis born, your baby will gain weight faster than he increases in length: he’s laying down fat, which makes his skin look plumper and healthier. His digestive system is getting ready to process milk; the rest of his organs are continuing to mature. He’s putting his developing lungs to the test by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid more and more frequently in preparation for the day when she will breathe air.
Sweet tooth
Your baby already knows what he likes to eat: studies show that if a sweet liquid is injected into the amniotic fluid, he will swallow more of it!

Midwife Appointment - Thursday 22nd February 2007
Went for my second Midwife appointment today. Nanny Trisha came along with me too. She heard the heart beat for the first time.
The Midwife measured my bump again and said that it was 28cm long! when she listened to the heartbeat she asked if we knew the sex of the baby and I said yes a boy and she said definatley with that heartbeat. She said that Lennons head was now at the bottom and his feet up the top, this explains why I thought that he had turned yesterday. She did say that his head is not engaged yet, which is good!
Nanny Trisha bought Lennon a lovely outfit for him to wear home from the hospital, I have packed it in my lovely pink labour bag. So far I have packed;
Feeding Nightie
Knickers
Small Changing Mat
Scratch Mittens
Hat
Vest
Baby Grow
Bib
I have started to write check lists of everything I need for the labour and slowly I am getting bits and pieces.
My next appointment is on Thursday 8th March 2007 at 12.15.

Lennons First Football Match - Saturday 17th February 2006
Wayne, Bump and I went off to watch Brighton vs Nottingham Forest today at the Withdean Stadium. It was Lennons first taste of football and he is not even here yet! he kicked all the way through the first half but settled down for the second half. I think he is definatley going to follow in his Dads footsteps and support Nottingham Forest. Its a shame they didn't win though the score ended up 2-1 to Brighton :-(

Developments for 28 Weeks
The heart is beating at 120-140 beats per minute - twice the speed of mine. The babies nostrils have opened and 'breathing practice' continues.
By 28 weeks the baby measures about 26.5cm long and weighs about 1.3kg (3lb)

Booking in Appointment with the Midwife - Thursday 8th February 2007
I went to see the Midwife today for my booking in appointment. I heard the babies heartbeat for the first time, it was very strong and sounded like a train going along. The Midwife measured my bump and it measured 26cm, which is good as it should be a cm for each week you are. Granny came along too and enjoyed hearing my heart beat...
My next Midwife appointment is for the Thursday 22nd February 2007, this will be with one of the community Midwifes in Lancing.
Midwife advised that I can no longer eat peanuts, so my cravings of Snickers and Peanut Butter on toast are no longer allowed. Need suggestions for new cravings!!!!
